Grading
Homework (30%) Homework is a vital part of the course. Unless you are instructed otherwise, problems are due at the beginning of class on the following Friday. You are expected to receive no assistance on the homework. Late papers will be accepted only in extreme circumstances.
Exams (40%) In-class exams on Wednesday, February 18 and Monday, April 5
Comprehensive Final Exam (30%) 9:00-Noon, Thursday, May 6
Exam Grading Scale
A 91-100; B+ 89-90; B 81-88; C+ 79-80; C 71-78; D+ 69-70; D 60-68; F 0-59;
Homework grading will be slightly more lenient.
Lecture Notes
I will pass out notes at the beginning of each lecture. These will allow you to
use class time to think rather than write.
Cell Phones: Turn them off before class begins
Purpose of Course:
The course develops the theory of nonparametric inference. It is intended for graduate students who have a thorough understanding of parametric inference.
My Expectations for You
- Arrive on time for each class.
- Review your notes after each class.
- Ask questions if you do not understand something or wish to know more.
- Make it your goal to understand everything we do.
- Turn in all homework on time.
