Text: Hogg and Tanis, Probability and Statistical Inference (6th Edition)

Prerequisite: MATH/STAT 511 with a grade of C or higher

My Expectations for You:

Grading:

Exams (300 points) In class exams will be given on Friday 2-13, Friday 3-19, and Wednesday 4-21. Make-ups will be given only in extreme circumstances. Contact me in advance if you think your situation merits a make-up.

Homework (100 points) Homework is due at the next class. Show your work on all problems. You are to receive no assistance on the homework. You may discuss the problems with me. Late homework will be accepted only under extreme circumstances. Your total homework score for the semester will be prorated to 100 points.

Final Exam (150 points) A comprehensive final will be given from 9:00 - Noon on Saturday, May 1.

Grading Scale

A 91-100; B+ 89-90; B 81-88; C+ 79-80; C 71-78; D+ 69-70; D 60-68; F 0-59

The regulations in the code of student academic responsibility prohibit bribery, cheating, lying, plagiarism, and misuse of telephone information processing system. Violations can result in serious penalties including suspension from the University. A copy of the code is included in the publication "Carolina Community".
