Travel Information


Columbia, South Carolina, is served by several major airlines through the Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE), including Delta, USAirways, Continental, and United. Transportation from the Metro Airport to downtown Columbia is mainly by taxi, with average rates of $15-$20. Rental car agencies (Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, and Thrifty) also have operations at the airport.

Columbia is also served by three interstate highways, I-20, I-26, and I-77. If driving, downtown can be reached easily from I-20 or I-77 by taking the Highway 277 exit, which enters the city on Bull Street. From I-26 East, the I-126/US 76 freeway enters downtown by either Huger Street or Elmwood Avenue, or from I-26 West, take US 1 entering the city on Gervais Street.
