International Conference on Reliability and Survival Analysis 2003

Support for Graduate Students
and New Researchers

The National Science Foundation is providing funding to partially support approximately 20 graduate students/new researchers to participate in the Conference. Up to $350 per individual can be awarded for partial reimbursement of local lodging and meals and/or travel costs, in addition to the Conference registration fee.

To be eligible for the partial support, the student/new researcher is expected to contribute a poster presentation on a relevant topic in a poster session at the Conference. To be considered for such support, the following information must be submitted to the Conference Program Co-Chairs by November 15, 2002:

1. Name
2. Institution, degree and date expected or received
3. Visa status, if not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (required to determine eligibility to receive reimbursements)
4. Title and abstract of contributed paper for poster session presentation
5. A letter from major professor endorsing the student's attendance and poster presentation (for current graduate students)

Submit this information either by e-mail (to pena@stat.sc.edu or padgett@stat.sc.edu) or by mail to:

Professor Edsel Pena
Department of Statistics
University of South Carolina
Columbia, SC 29208 USA

Decisions on funding and acceptance of poster presentations will be made as soon as possible before January 15, 2003.

Women and minority graduate students/new researchers are especially encouraged to apply.
