A histogram is bar graph for numerical data collected into classes. To construct a histogram, begin by selecting the Histogram option under the Graphics menu. When the dialog window appears, select the variable(s) for which the histogram(s) will be constructed as shown below for the Iris data. If you select more than one variable, the histograms will be stacked in the reverse order of selection in the resulting graphic. It only makes sense to stack histograms if the variables selected are on approximately the same scale.
After selecting the variable(s) of interest, click Create Graph! to construct a default histogram or Next-> if you would like to specify your own starting point, class width or type for the histogram(s). The window below illustrates these options. If you select more than one variable, there will be no scaling on the Y-axis, so type does not matter in this case.
The result is displayed in the Graphics Window as shown below for the example above. You may also continue through the other standard graphic options by clicking Next-> before creating the graph.
