Models for Disease Markers
Many diseases have associated longitudinal biomarkers that may provide some indication of disease onset and progression. This talk is an overview of a number of statistical models that have been proposed and used for biomarkers. Emphasis will be given to some recent approaches used for evaluating the relationship between prostate-specific antigen and prostate cancer. These methods include a Bayesian model for dynamically assessing the probability of disease onset and latent class models for discovering structure in the joint biomarker-onset time distribution.
