Over 200 students have graduated with a B.S. in Statistics from USC. They are employed by a diverse set of employers in the public and private sectors. The following sample shows examples of where our graduates work and the success that they have had:

 

Duane D. Heydt, Jr., BS in Statistics, 1995

Duane continued his education by getting an M.S.P.H. in Biostatistics at USC. He is a Partner in Tegra Analytics, LLC in Columbia SC, a company that he co-founded in 2002. Tegra Analytics offers customized analytical services, products and training to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. In addition to the daily operations of running and managing a company, he is responsible for communicating with clients, gathering data from the client sites, managing and integrating the data as well as providing analysis (some exploratory) and reports per specifications. He also is responsible for designing and developing custom applications to be used within Tegra and by clients, overseeing statistical plans and analysis of clinical trials and assisting with software and statistical training.

Dudley Jackson, B.S. in Statistics, 1998

Dudley continued his education by graduating from the Southeast Tourism Society's Marketing College. He is Marketing Research Manager for the South Carolina Department of Parks Recreation and Tourism (SCPRT) in Columbia, SC. SCPRT is primarily responsible for managing South Carolina's state parks and marketing the State of South Carolina as a tourism destination. His primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating and communicating survey research that provides strategic direction for and evaluation of SCPRT's tourism advertising. Other major duties include providing data analysis services and other technical support to agency staff and industry allies and participation in local, state, regional and national forums. Dudley is Vice-President of Southeastern Chapter of Travel & Tourism Research Association.

Jamie (Winterton) McGee, B.S. in Mathematics and Statistics, 2000

Jamie continued her education by getting an M.S. in Statistics at USC. She is currently an Actuarial Assistant for Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company in Columbia, SC. Colonial Life is a market leader in providing supplemental insurance to employees and their families at the worksite. As a Valuation actuary, Jamie helps to calculate the reserves that will be needed to pay out future claims. Also, she reports results monthly to demonstrate the company's financial strength and stability. Jamie has passed three Society of Actuary exams.

R. Eric Perry, B.S. Statistics, 1983

Eric continued his education by getting an M.S. in Statistics from USC. He is Vice President - Engineering / Quality for Superior Essex Communications, LP in Atlanta, GA. Superior Essex designs, produces and markets copper and fiber optic cable products that carry voice and data communications over a vast array of network applications. He is responsible for 3 division functions: Applications Engineering, Product Engineering, and Quality. His primary responsibilities are supporting customers with product selection and installation, industry standards development and compliance, product design support and costing, and division quality leadership. He has been an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and is on the Quality Systems Registrars Board of Governors.

Karin Thomas Vukovinsky, BS in Statistics 1989

Karin continued her education by getting an M.S. in Statistics at USC. She is a Senior Quality Engineer for Sonoco Products Company, Inc. in Hartsville, SC. Sonoco is a global manufacturer of industrial and consumer packaging. Sonoco provides packaging for some of the world's most recognizable brands. Her responsibilities include managing a plant's quality system; representing the needs of customers to the plant; completing projects using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies; effectively using data to monitor product quality; and managing the investigation and corrective actions in response to customer complaints. She is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
