706Experimental Design. (3)
(Prereq: STAT 701 or STAT 705) Specialized experimental designs: 2n and 3n factorials; fractional replication;
confounding; incomplete block designs including split-plot,
split-block, Latin square designs; general principles of design.
Course Homepage: Fall 2006 Usually Offered: Fall Semester Purpose: To introduce graduate students in diverse fields of study to the philosophy of controlled experimentation, including both the classical and Taguchi approach to parameter design. To develop an understanding of the analysis and implementation of special classes of traditional designs. To provide the opportunity to use and understand current design of experiments software. To discuss options available when practical considerations warrant the use of non-traditional designs. Current Textbook: Practical Data Analysis for Designed Experiments , by Brian S. Yandell, Chapman and Hall, 1997.
