Computing with WebStat
Introduced in the spring of 1997, WebStat
(http://www.stat.sc.edu/~west/webstat/) is a complete statistical package
written in the form of a Java applet for access over the World
Wide Web (WWW) or as a stand-alone application. The package was originally
developed so that students might have access to basic statistical procedures
on the Internet. WebStat has been used as the analysis package in several
courses around the world, and it is the
primary data analysis tool for the new electronic textbook, Visualizing
Statistics, from Cybergnostics Inc. The developers of WebStat have
continued to add more features and procedures to the package in order to
make it more functional for a larger number of
potential users. A demonstration of the current state of the WebStat
software will be given and the plans for future development will be
discussed.
