"Item-Response Theory: Some Applications"
As a joint effort between the Department of Statistics and the College of
Education, a new course, EDRM828/STAT778 (Item Response Theory) will be
offered for the first time in the spring 2001 semester. The course deals
with topics such as statistical models for item response theory, Rasch and
other models for binary and polytomous data, and applications. As a
precursor to the offering of the course, this talk aims at highlighting some
fundamental aspects of IRT and its applications in both hard and social
science research, and discussing some interesting theoretical recent
findings regarding IRT models for binary and polytomous data.
